2024年6月に金沢市内で開催された企画「Everything is a museum」に合わせて制作されたシリーズ。
キュレーターの髙木遊により考案された「Everything is a museum」は、2024年元日に発生した能登半島地震を契機に、有事における美術館や芸術の意味を問い直す試みとして、市内11ヶ所のスペースで展覧会を同時に開催する企画であった。
同企画に合わせて出版された冊子に収録する作品として制作された本作において、河野は、それぞれに離れた会場を徒歩で巡り、その移動の途上で撮影を行った。街の中に点在する場所を身体的な移動によって結び、ひとつの連続した経験として捉え直す試みである。
タイトルの「Draw a Line」は、複数の地点を地図上で結ぶ線であると同時に、歩くことによって生じる時間や距離、そして個別の場所のあいだに一時的な関係を見出す行為を指している。
A series produced in conjunction with "Everything is a museum", a project held across Kanazawa in June 2024.
Conceived by curator Yu Takagi in response to the Noto Peninsula Earthquake of 1 January 2024, "Everything is a museum" sought to reconsider the meaning of museums and art in times of emergency through a series of exhibitions held simultaneously at eleven spaces across the city.
Created for inclusion in a publication accompanying the project, this work involved Kono walking between the separate exhibition venues and photographing along the way. Through the physical act of moving through the city, he connected its dispersed sites and reconsidered them as part of a single, continuous experience.
The title "Draw a Line" refers both to the line that connects multiple points on a map and to the act of seeking temporary relationships between individual places through the time and distance generated by walking.
