YUKIHITO KONO
Artist / photographer based in Kanazawa Japan
Born in 1989, based in Kanazawa, Japan. Kono is an artist who works seamlessly across photographic practice, seeking and enacting a renewed model of what a photographer can be. In 2011 he moved to the UK and completed an MA in Fine Art Photography at London College of Communication, University of the Arts London. Based on an inquiry into the function of images in society and their reconstruction, his practice has produced numerous artist books and installations. Having studied literature and art in different cultural contexts, his work emerges from a delicate balance between rigorous selection and the bold acceptance of chance. While grounded in the traditions of photography, it remains open to modes of thought that traverse genres and historical periods. In 2017, he founded IACK in Kanazawa, an atelier, gallery, and bookshop that also serves as the base of his practice.
