When You Look At The Landscape (2023-ongoing)
An installation that aims to visually represent the progression of time and free photography from a state of immobility. Three monochromatic photographs depict the perspective from a bridge that attracts numerous tourists visiting Yamanaka Onsen in Ishikawa Prefecture. The photographs exhibit conventional and stereotypical depictions of landscapes. However, once photographed, Kono proceeded to display these pictures on the exhibition room wall, where they will eventually be installed, and subsequently captured new photographs of them using natural lighting. Consequently, the photographs serve as both a documentation of the grand mountains and a documentation of the stream of lights in the exhibition room on a specific day. This causes the viewer's attention to shift between various locations and time periods, as well as between the numerous layers of light captured in the photographs. Here, Kono endeavors to challenge the prevailing notion that photography becomes obsolete once a picture is captured, as well as the idea that it solely shapes the image of things. The landscapes observed by individuals since ancient times are reconstructed, and with each subsequent viewing, they manifest as novel landscapes.

あなたが風景を見るとき (2023-ongoing)
時間の流れを視覚化し、写真を静止から解放することを試みるインスタレーション。3枚のモノクロ写真は、石川県の山中温泉を訪れる観光客の多くが足を運ぶ橋の上から望む景色をとらえている。一見何の変哲もない風景写真だが、河野は撮影した写真を後日作品が設置される展示室の壁に貼り付け、自然光のもとでプリントを再撮影した。その結果、写真は雄大な山々の記録であると同時に、ある日の展示室を照らす光の記録となり、鑑賞者の視線は異なる場所と時間、そして多層的に記録された光の狭間で揺れ動くこととなる。ここで河野は、撮影された途端に過去のものになってしまう写真の在り方や、写真が物事のイメージを決定づけることにささやかな抵抗を試みている。古来より人々が目にしてきた景色は再構築され、視線を投げかけるたびに新たな風景として立ち上がるのである。
